The Durham County Bar Association is the Bar’s voluntary membership organization, with more than 300 annual members. Membership entitles you to attend the monthly luncheons from September to May, service projects and social activities of the voluntary Bar. The luncheon meetings are typically held on Wednesdays, at The Durham Convention Center downtown, or Hope Valley Country Club, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Non-members must pay $25.00 for each luncheon.

DCBA membership also entitles members of your family to participate in the BarCARES program. BarCARES provides guidance, counseling, support services and resources. The service is available without charge to members of the Fourteenth Judicial District Bar. Your DCBA membership extends your “free” visits / services to your immediate family members.  This represents a maximum benefit of $600 per family member.

Dues for the DCBA are charged by the fiscal year, which begins July 1. All members receive a voluntary Bar dues invoice along with their mandatory invoice. For the 2011-2012 fiscal year, dues are $100. Attorneys who are first licensed by the NC State Bar in 2011 or 2012 may join for $50. We anticipate that 300 or more members of the Fourteenth will also choose to join the voluntary bar.
